Sophie writes:
I am still behind on my view of the past litters project. Comming soon. So many urgent things going on. The puppies are now great at walking and following. I feed them some raw meat so have to stay on top of worming. They chew large bones and do not have fragile stomachs that I hear about from other breeders. I am supplementing their croquettes with sardine, yeast flakes, chicken and marrow bones.
They love to play with broken old gloves and are very good about not jumping, biting or scratching. They have short memories, but when I ask them to stop doing something they stop, They enjoy a good walk enormously.
I am very aware of the fact that the grass seed is mature and ripe at the moment so I need to check the dogs' ears several times a day. They have been to the river once and this weekend will go again. One puppy has already left to live with his sire, Louis. Louis and his sister Maya were amazingly accepting of him.
Two more are leaving next week also going to a home where there is already an adult standard poodle then week nine is the official leaving week for the others. Only Felippa is still available for a home. She has a great dark coat and is bright and very affectionate to dogs and people. As often happens I consider my last pup to be of breeding quality and hope that somebody suitable will come along. The agreement of sale is slightly different as I charge no more and require copies of certain test certificates. Although I would like the line to continue with some progeny it is not the end of the world. A very good home would also be fine.

The puppies are growing up so quickly. They are very good followers now and Joy can have them all sitting in a line with a look. Esther (their elder sister) adores to play with them but not to stay with them and Princess (their aunt) will play with them very occasionally but they really are Joy’s babies.
Their characters have really come out now. They are all very outgoing and some a little more adventurous, independent or cuddly. Some are exceptionally quick on the uptake.
We are yet again very happy with the homes we are finding. Please do not feel fobbed off if I have not been great at responding to contacts. Be persistent if you can. Puppies now needing more play and contact every day so less and less time for indoor things. If we do not think the home suitable for any reason we will be direct.
The two females still available are Felippa and Clairette (our names)
Felippa is dainty very affectionate towards people and dogs and becoming more and more playful and forward going. She has an excellent dark coat. I have taken pictures of her showing closer details that can be sent on request (to be posted here soon).
Clairette is very bright with lots of energy but not wild. She will regularly be one of the first and loves to play catch with our son. She has a more independent disposition than Felippa and will be a much more solid build of dog when adult. Again I have lots of photographs available on request (to be posted here soon).

Puppies are now walking confidently and wrestling with each other. Needle sharp teeth just appearing and bones are becoming popular.
The puppies are now 3 weeks, have opened their eyes and are showing friendliness, inquisitiveness and a keen interest in food. They willl be going out in the daylight for the first time today. Joy is being a devoted mother with plenty of milk. Soon the other adult dogs will be able to play with them.
We have been slow giving names this time, probably because as there are only six we are not so anxious about having enough suitable names or being able to remember them all but it will happen very soon
I am still in the process of placing the puppies in their homes so do get in touch if it is the right time for you to take on your dog. All the pups are brown, all but one a dark nutty brown and the 6th a cafe au lait. Their personalities will be coming more clearly in the next few weeks.
For the last litter I wrote a fairly detailled journal about how the litter developed and grew and you might enjoy reading it. You can find it here. This year I am instead going to review our past litters in some detail chronicling individual puppies but I am still preparing this. In the meantime if you would like to hear regular facts, progress and trivia about how the puppies are doing you can join Joy on her Face book page (Joy Exuperantus Una McDonald) at http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/profile.php?id=100000868312849

Mother and puppies are all doing well. Below are some photos of their first week. Their eyes, of course, were not yet open and they spend all their time feeding and sleeping.
